The Treasure Ship #5- Afloat!
MacWorld ‘08 was kicked off this morning by Steve Jobs’ keynote. The highlights include:
- Google maps on iPhone can now show your current location
- Full Airport Extreme with 500GB or 1TB Hard Drive for your Time Machine backups
- Mail, Stocks, Maps, Notes, and Weather available on iPod Touch for $20
- Every major movie studio will make their movies available on iTunes. For rental…
- You have 30 days to start watching a movie and 24 hours to finish.
- Classic titles for $2.99. New releases for $3.99
- New Apple TV that syncs with iTunes for HD rentals ($4.99)
- iTunes fully accessible on new Apple TV.
One more thing…
Since Steve Jobs didn’t use my favorite saying this morning, I figured I would! Apple unveiled their new subnotebook today: the MacBook Air.

- 3 pounds. Between 0.16 to 0.76 inches thin (sexy curves)
- 13.3-inch widescreen LED backlit display
- 80 GB Hard Drive or a 64 GB solid-state drive (no moving parts- super fast!)
- 1.6 and 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
- 2GB Memory
- 1 USB 2.0 port. 1 microDVI port
- No optical drive, but a USB one is available for $99
- 80GB is $1,799. 64GB is… $3,098
And that’s all! I need to run out the door, so I’ll post my thoughts in the comment section later. Until then, enjoy the Treasure Ship! You must give the exact title for this one.

This seems like a stupid answer, but I can’t help it.
This shot reminds me of StarFox 64.
finding nemo?
About 90% that’s Cruis’n Exotica.
Does anybody know if you can rent movies without an Apple TV? I have a mac mini connected to my HD DVD and I use front row, just curious if I can still rent…..
The air would last about two weeks in my possession; I’m clumsy :/
i’ll go with shark tale
TheMalteseFalken is correct. +1
Billie, if I understand everything correct from today, you can rent movies directly through iTunes, regardless if you have Apple TV. I would assume that HD movies would also be available, but I’ll look into it further.
Let me know if you can!
And as for the Air, I personally would have no use for it. It’s a cool concept, but one USB port and no built in optical drive makes it almost useless for me. Sure, you can add a USB hub for more, but the more we add to the machine, the more we are defeating the true purpose of the laptop (portability!).
Still, I am blown away by the Air’s size. It makes me feel like we are in the future or something…
OOps I mean I have my mac mini hooked up to my “HD TV”. Yeah I seen the option for HD Movies, pretty lame that you have to pay more to rent the HD Version of the movie……I assume that you can do it if you have iTunes, I’m just not sure that you can control it with Front Row…
As I sit here on my almost 4 year old Powerbook, I never had the chance to experience Front Row. If I had the Mac Pro that I am trying to get soon, I would be able to figure out if everything works. But until then, I am completely useless to you. Sorry!
@ Billie
I looked into it, and the HD downloads on iTunes are only available on the Apple TV.
Lame.
Friggin’ weak sauce!!!
