Nintendo calls it quits on the WaveBird
Looks like the industry’s first good wireless console controller has kicked the bucket. A response from Nintendo’s customer service concerning WireBird Wireless Controller availability in stores hints that the controller has been discontinued.
“I haven’t heard of any plans to offer the WaveBird Wireless Controllers in stores again (I did some checking, and we are still shipping the original Nintendo GameCube Controllers to stores). If you’re unable to find the original Nintendo GameCube Controller locally, you can still order this item from us.”

So, unless you manage to get a hold of remaining remnants of clearance stock or find one used, you’ll have to use corded controllers to play GC games on your Wii. It’s disappointing that those who still play their GC games can’t get WaveBirds should they want to, but at least it means less GameCube controllers for Brawl. Score.
