Why buy a Wii when you can buy a painting of one for the same price?
I’m almost certain there’s a book or movie out there where someone could draw an item, any item, and it would come to life. I thought it’d be a clever post, but I’m blanking right now. So no clever post for you.
Christine and Justin of NYC have created a website where they’ll paint the novelties they want, sell it for that particular item’s actual list price plus tax, and then use the money made to go out and actually buy the real thing. That Wii painting? Selling for $270.92. What’s that? You want to know who would actually buy that, or any of the other works, for that kind of money? So would I. There’s a painting of a laugh for free, though, so I think I’ll order about a million of those and see where their funds are at after buying all the supplies.
On a similar note, why didn’t my Wii models gather this much attention when they were put on eBay? Oh that’s right, they shut us down.

I think this is the sort of thing you were thinking of, but it probably never reached the US. I used to love this show:
