Japanese software sales, December 17-23
Galaxy’s a failure in Japan? What?
The latest Media Crate data is coming in, and over on the software side of this, Nintendo is dominating just as much. Mario Party 8 took home top honors as lifetime sales broke the million mark in Japan, while Final Fantasy IV DS debuted with a more than respectable 288,000 units. WiiFit came in third, selling 214,000 and expected to pass the million mark shortly after the new year.
Surprise, surprise, though, as Super Mario Galaxy moved 114,000 copies in 4th place for the week. That’s 664,000 copies so far, and when compared to Super Mario Sunshine’s lifetime sales of 869,265 since 2002, Galaxy’s not doing so poorly. Mario’s apparently got nice legs.
