As if Brawl wasn’t already going to make you throw around cash…
Super Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai wasn’t content with the fact that once you earned coins in Melee, you simply dropped them into a machine and out popped a trophy. No, he wants to take up your time and make you work for your prizes (or have fun doing so, if you really want to look at it that way).
The new “Coin Launcher” mode is like arcade machine set up to use the motion controls of the Wii. Simply tilt the control to aim the coin cannon, and press to fire. If you can hit a trophy multiple times with your bullets (your coins), you earn that trophy. Defeating entire formations will earn you stickers and other bonuses, and filling up your green gauge (below your coin count) will allow you to shoot (or waste) coins using rapid-fire. You’ll need it when homing missiles start coming at you to decrease your coin count.
When you quit, your earned trophies will show in green, and stickers in red. Good reason to start gambling now, hm? Nine screens after the break.
