Tales of Symphonia was one of those super long games where, if you’ve never played a Tales game before, you play and you think you’re getting near the end and…boom! Plot twist. Turns out you were only playing a tenth of what the game now seems to be. You think you’re then about to finish that game, and…boom! Another plot twist. The game just keeps on going. It was an amazingly fun game, especially when playing along with multiple players, but I honestly don’t think I finished it.
I’ll have to do so soon, though. The sequel for the Wii, Knight of Ratatosk, will be arriving in Japan this spring and I expect an international release in the not-so-distant future. The sequel actually sports a brand new visual art style. The characters shown in the screens after the break (starting with the announced main characters, Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi) are cel-shaded but fully 3D character models. Check it out!
