WiiSports not enough to keep the fat off

071223wiigoggles.jpgResearchers at Liverpool John Moores University have completed a study suggesting that games like Tennis and Boxing in WiiSports aren’t enough to keep you slim. Nearly a dozen kids, boys and girls, aged 13-15 participated in a study comparing the energy used up when playing games like WiiSports and Project Gotham Racing 3. The results? You burn off maybe a quarter of a candy bar per hour. WiiSports uses more energy than PGR3, but you’re going to want Wii Fit if you want to stay in shape.

Of course, the researchers still liked the concept behind WiiSports. Games like it still encourage movement and motor control in kids today. When was the last time you saw a little kid playing frisbee in the park?
