Welcome to The Tanooki 2.0!
Nearly a year after we launched The Tanooki, we’re ready to unveil a new look heading into 2008! We’re still working out a few kinks and ironing out a few features, so I guess this isn’t a true unveiling…not in the complete sense anyway. Regardless, we hope you like it. If you don’t, head over to our forums and tell us why! (The forums will also be getting a visual overhaul in the next few days.)
Matt and I and everyone else are exhausted though, so we’re going to call it a night. I can’t say for sure, but Michael will probably be handling the bulk of the news during the course of tomorrow, while Becky has gone home for the holidays and the rest of us will be working on something special… Check back throughout Saturday!
Oh, and how do you like the new logo? It’s not as Super Mario 64-ish anymore…

wow got to say its really nice, usually i hate it when websites change but i really like this new design, keeps the simplicity and looks great.
Top marks: 10/10
I like it, except for that really obnoxious-looking “Now YOU can advertise on The Tanooki” banner. It’s really out of place.
But otherwise the site looks great, I like the new forum-thingy on the far right.
Oh my CRAP.
I HATES IT TAKE IT BACK NOEZ
Okay seriously. It’ll take some getting used to, but I dislike change no matter what, so don’t listen to me. =P
…But if you you decide to listen to me, it’s… Kind of gimmicky. =\
oh yeah on second though, i’m kinda with drktrpr1 maybe the ads should be in the third column rather then in the center one …
That advertising banner is really obnoxious.
Hey guys and gals,
Thanks for your feedback thus far and please continue to give more (perhaps on things other than the banner :P). I sense a great disturbance in the force over the banner, but no worries, things will work out in the end.
Now excuse me as I prep for a few Tanooki-related activities (hint: it’s something that we love to do, but haven’t had much time to do on a regular basis).
Thanks again for the feedback!
Navi (and her orange relatives) are just always really obnoxious…
oh sure say that when their not saving your life…
Some would rather die… :P
I must say it is quite the improvement over the original layout. Definitely an improvement =D
Dude, is there any way you can put mario in the Tanooki suit somewhere? What’s the point of having a site called “the Tanooki”, when there is no tanooki to be found?
Good job on the new interface. I kind of like it. Makes it feel like I’m going to a new site now.
Again, great job.
I like it, especially the most recent comments element. But I agree that there should be a Tanooki Mario. Perhaps he should be shouting “Register today” instead of the sentient NES console?
As a whole, I like the new look. Got away from the ‘Wordpress’ look and has a more original look. The only thing I’d say is that my eyes aren’t pulled towards the name image or even the news itself, but to the thumbnails in the banner. Sort of distracting. I actually didn’t notice the navigation links in the orange bit until I started to seriously look at the site. Heh.
The banner on the side that everybody is complaining about doesn’t really bother me. Does the job and that’s about it.
Thank for including the “A Winner is You” bit. No matter how many times I see it or use it on my own site, it’s still funny. :D
My only other comment would be that there is no tanooki suit anywhere. To me the tanooki suit really gave the site a recognizable icon that came to mind whenever I thought of the site. The favicon being the last bit with the tanooki suit just seems off, at least to me.
Oh, the tanooki suit didn’t leave forever. It just decided to take a short vacation. I tried to talk it out of it, but it wouldn’t listen…
We still own the suit, but last I heard, the plumber was unhappy with his contract…
So basically you’re telling me you’ve got a fat, stubby, and naked Italian plumber running around in The Tanooki headquarters? You’d better get that under control…
No, no, he decided to take a vacation. Delfino something.
