Akira Chiba, the president of Pokémon USA, Inc., has announced his intention to resign from his position at the end of the year. He joined back in 2002 with the job of revitalizing the Pokémon franchise in the United States, and leaves with the intent of pursuing new opportunities. Kenji Okubo, currently the company’s EVP and head of the Seattle office, will succeed Chiba in taking over the company in addition to taking reins of all Pokémon activity outside of Japan.
Not that we didn’t enjoy the Pokémon franchise while Chiba headed the company, but new faces can always allow for some nice changes. What would you like to see? What’s that? More Pokémon tours in the Midwest? With more Event Pokémon? I think I agree.
