Wii exceeds lifetime Gamecube hardware sales in Japan
As shown in the above graph, the Wii has outpaced the Gamecube, selling the same amount of units the Gamecube sold in it’s entire lifetime in just 54 weeks! Interestingly, the Gameboy Advance took just 40 weeks to reach the same mark, and the DS barely edged out the Wii, taking 53.7 weeks to reach the same total sales.
Interesting to note however, the Wii beats out the last-gen console leader, the Playstation 2. It took the PS2 66 weeks to achieve the the same total sales the Wii has accomplished in 54 weeks.
