New Wii colors confirmed NOT for Japan

UPDATE: It turns out that the original source for this surprising bit of news was a fake. A 2ch message board poster has revealed that the famitsu scan containing the info was false. Sorry guys, you’ll have to enjoy your respective Wii consoles in their drab white coloring for a little while longer it seems.

No, they’re not getting all the colors shown above… but the latest issue of Famitsu magazine has apparently confirmed that Nintendo will be attempting to boost Wii sales in Japan starting this January. Alongside the launch of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo will launch the Wii in five new colors: Red, Diamond Black, Mint Blue, Snow Pink, and a Limited Edition Famicom variety.

The new packages will also include two remotes and two nunchuks each, and bring the total package to about ¥35000. While importers should be happy at the news, don’t expect new colors anywhere else just yet… Nintendo can barely keep up with demand in those regions with a single color.

Thanks to Val for the heads up.
