Activision Fixes Mono Problem- Offers Replacement Discs in 2008

We knew that Activision was looking into the Guitar Hero III sound problem, and now it looks like the publisher has found a solution. Starting next year, Activision will offer re-mastered replacement discs for consumers wishing to take advantage of the advertised Dolby Pro Logic II.

We recently became aware that some consumers have not been able to enjoy the full audio output in the Nintendo Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. We are currently working with Nintendo and are planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game. We expect to have re-mastered discs available by early 2008 and we will be offering consumers replacement discs at no cost once they become available. We thank all of our customers for their support and patience.

While the problem shouldn’t have existed in the first place, I commend Activision for offering this solution. It’s just a shame that a small problem like this on the Wii can’t be fixed with the ease a patch, as seen on those other systems.

Another perfect example of why Nintendo needs to think about hard drive support and a better online network.

Due to the Wii's memory restrictions, I don't see how this can happen. They just need to hurry up with the replacement discs already....I ended up buying two sets to get two guitars, so I can keep playing the Mono disc, while I send my other disc to get replaced with the correct version.
