Wii shortages are literally a missed opportunity

Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime spoke this week at the Dow Jones Consumer Technology Innovations Conference. There, he confirmed that there are no plans to release the TV Guide-like Wii channel in the United States, that developers should have an easier time making profit on games for the Wii, and that the DS is *still* on track to become the fastest selling gaming platform ever. In addition, he addressed the continuing problem: most people still can’t find a Wii.

“At this point, we are literally trying to catch up with demand. They aren’t going to sleep outside of a store overnight or visit a retailer five or six times. It is literally a missed opportunity.”

There may be mass shortages, but Nintendo’s working with what they’ve got. There isn’t a hidden temple filled with Wii consoles anywhere.
