Nintendo offers to repair Fire Emblem game discs

Owners of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn who tried transferring their Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance game saves over may have experienced the game locking up when attempting the transfer. Fans have found the problem linked to the existence of cleared Easy mode files on the Path of Radiance save, and that simply deleting that cleared Easy mode file should allow you to transfer Normal or Hard modes.

On the other hand, what if you want to transfer your Easy mode file? Or what if just the fact that you couldn’t if you wanted to is bothering you?

I called Nintendo about the problem earlier this month, and they said they’d get back to me on the situation. They responded yesterday, telling me about the repair program that should be ready early next month. Basically, you’ll let Nintendo know your contact info, they’ll get in touch when everything is ready, and you’ll send your disc in to them for “repair” (i.e., a new disc that works).

I guess I can put off playing through Hard Mode until afterwards. I’m just glad I’ll be getting a fixed disc – another reason to be thankful for today. You can read the full e-mail I got after the break.

You recently contacted us regarding an issue you encountered when transferring your Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance save file to your Wii console for use with Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. We are pleased to announce that there is a solution for this issue that will be ready mid-December.

This solution will require sending in your Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn game disc in for repair. Once the disc is returned to you, you may then transfer the Path of Radiance save file information into a new Radiant Dawn save file.
