Square Enix held a shareholders meeting yesterday, and among the topics that came up was the highly anticipated Dragon Quest IX. The announcement that the game would be coming to the Nintendo DS instead of any home console counterpart was a megaton story, for both facts that it wouldn’t be on the Wii (or PS3) and that it would be on the hottest selling system Japan has ever seen.
SE President Yoichi Wada unfortunately revealed that arguably the most anticipated title in Japan still has no release date. The company didn’t have one to confirm, nor could they even venture independent guesses as to when it would arrive. Square Enix is striving for perfection with the game, and despite the most recent delay to 2008, not even that could be reconfirmed.
Don’t worry. The game will come out. Eventually.
