Best Buy causing Déjà vu among Wii hunters
If you’re trying to find a Wii still, it’s probably because of the simple fact that there are more people want one than units Nintendo can produce in the same time. Most stores are doing their best to help you out – letting customers know when they’ll have the next Sunday re-launch or answering questions about shipment arrivals.
Not all stores are helping you out, though. John, a shopper in New Jersey, was near the back of a Best Buy store when an employee came out from a back door, proclaiming the Wii in his hands was the very last one. Expectedly, many came rushing to claim it. John went back to shopping before another “last Wii” was announced over the PA system, this time in the hands of an employee named Julie. Meanwhile, two manager-type workers were overheard discussing whether or not Julie had sold the Wii yet, and to wait about 40 minutes before the next Wii would be sent out.
Now, we could get into the whole ethics of this practice… but honestly. Those systems would sell out even if they were all put out on the floor at once.
