UK drives Super Mario Galaxy to extinction

While sales figures have yet to be released from anywhere but Japan concerning Galaxy’s sales, it looks like the UK have gobbled up Mario’s latest adventure. Online retailer Power Play Direct reveals:

NOTE: Due to excessive demand, allocation for this item will be on a first come first served basis, and unless your order was placed before 12/11/2007 at the moment we are unable to guarantee delivery before Christmas. This is a nationwide shortage and we are hoping Nintendo are able to give us more news soon.

Knowing that Super Mario Galaxy is one of the most highly rated games ever, it’s no surprise that we’re seeing shortages across the globe. What’s more surprising however, is that the shortages could go right through the holiday season. Anyone keeping score on the console war this generation knows that Nintendo is already streaking to an early lead, and they look primed to dominate throughout the holiday season as well. We’ll see how Mario is doing in North America soon, but it’s nice to hear some early reports of success in the UK.
