Despite the fact that Meta Knight’s special move set was already revealed back in August, Sakurai further explains exactly how these moves work during a match. The side special move, Drill Rush, allows Meta Knight to lunge to the side with his blade spinning like a drill. After the move has been executed, you can also tilt the control stick to slightly alter the direction Meta Knight will go while attacking. Shuttle loop, Meta Knight’s up special move, launches him upward as he slashes above with his sword. His standard special move, the Mach Tornado, causes Meta Knight to rapidly spin like a cyclone with his sword pointed outward at opponents.

Finally, for his down special move, Meta Knight uses Dimensional Cape which allows him to teleport elsewhere on the stage. To do this, he wraps himself in his cape and disappears, only to reappear a few feet away. As Meta Knight comes back into view, you can press the attack button to cause him to rapidly slash at opponents with his sword. Careful use of this move can allow you to turn the tables on attacking opponents, so make sure you get your timing down!
