Taunting is back, and it’s done using the “+” D-pad when using the Classic Controller or the old GameCube controller. When taunting using the Wii Remote/Nunchuk combination, 1 is “up,” 2 is “down,” and 1+2 is “side.” Taunts are unrelated to the gameplay, but they’re there to make your battles against human opponents a little more fun.
Below you can see Ike’s taunt, which involves him thrusting his sword into the ground and standing with his arms crossed. Neat! After that you can see some more: Link’s “up” taunt is where he’ll spin his sword and sheath it, like he does in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Link’s “side” taunt will pull out a fairy, and his “down” taunt brings back his odd N64 pose. Mario will take off his hat and spin around, Wario gives the “W” salutes, Sonic spins his feet and says “Too slow!,” among some other taunts. One last thing, text can be added to each taunt position!
