Lucas has special moves, too! The Mother 3 star is similar to Ness, but his attacks vary. Starting with his standard moves, Lucas’ strong-up attack is a flip kick, his down smash is a PK barrage on the ground, his back air attack is a meteor smash, and his grab uses a rope snake.
But it’s the special attacks we’re interested in this morning! His side special move is also PK Fire, but it differs from Ness’. It will fly straight out to either side, causing an exploding flaming pillar of epic proportions. The standard special attack is PK Freeze, allowing you to freeze your opponents. PK Thunder is back and serves as Lucas’ up special, allowing Lucas’ to either recover onto the stage platform and/or hit opponents with a devastating blow. Finally, Lucas’ down special is called PSI Magnet, which we’ve also seen before. A field of energy surrounds Lucas, absorbing energy from enemy projectiles and recovering Lucas’ health.
Ness fans who take Sakurai’s words very literally, there may have been one downer this morning. Here’s the one disappointing line (not any kind of confirmation) from the whole update, verbatim: “There’s a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now…”
