Super Mario Galaxy sells 130,000 on first day in Japan

With the report of few lines at launch conflicting with the report of 700,000 Japanese pre-orders for Super Mario Galaxy as of a month ago, it’s nice to find out that the Japanese apparently picked up their copies of the latest Wii killer-app without the rest of the world seeing them do so. Jeux-France is reporting that Super Mario Galaxy has sold 130,000 copies on its first day, which is a good start. Hopefully everyone that pre-ordered the game will pick up their copies within the first few days, and we’ll see some astronomical sales figures for the week.

Galaxy doesn’t come out here in the States for a little while longer – just keep in mind that after today the wait goes into the single digits.
