Nintendo DS functionality to be expanded next year

071101palmds.jpgRemember when Nintendo wanted their game systems to focus strictly on games and games alone? Yeah, not so much anymore. Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata, explained that the company will unveil new features for the Nintendo DS next year that will expand its functionality as a multi-purpose unit. It will be used for more practical activities using the handheld’s Wi-Fi technology, just like the uses already employed in Japanese museums and Safeco Field in Seattle.

Of course, we have no information on what the new features could be, so let speculation begin! We’re still waiting on that phone technology, right?

Cool, why not. I’m still waiting for more Wii-to-DS functionality. I am one of the few who actually liked the Gamecube-to-GBA functionality.
