While arguably the most anticipated game for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 came out in September and blew the doors down with sales exceeding 3 million in September, Nintendo’s Wii console trailed 360 sales for second place by only 27,000 units. The DS Lite wasn’t far behind either. Keep in mind that while the rival 360 saw the release of the gargantuan that is Halo 3, the Wii did not have any major releases in September. Instead, analysts believe that the high sales are still from people who have been waiting for months and only recently found a Wii on the store shelves.
As for game sales, Wii Play came in second overall, followed by The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Wait, didn’t that game come out in October?
