NES controller phone raises the bar… of awesomeness

Sure, you can buy a fancy pants iPhone and toss on a NES emulator to give your phone that faux retro look that is oh so popular with the kids these days, or you can turn a spare NES controller into your phone. Flickr user one rod (aka: a genius) did just that by finding a way to cram his old Nokia phone into a slightly older NES controller.

The final product looks more attractive than the crap that phone companies are trying to push on us these days, but with how simple the overall task looks, you can’t help but have one of those “why didn’t I think of that before?!” moments. No word yet on which ringtones come pre-installed, but you can sure bet on some Snake action with this baby.

Update: The wide world of excellent NES controller phone mods doesn’t stop here. Apparently, a few other people have dabbled into this world, so check after the break for some more coverage (and a video!).
