The Romans had the roads. The British had the seas. The Americans had the skies. Nintendo has the games. In the short history of home gaming, the platform with the best selection of games has always had the success. This Christmas, the Wii will have a clear advantage with the largest fourth quarter game library, gaining 86 new titles while the Xbox 360 will be gaining 47 new games and the PlayStation 3 getting 38, according to analyst Screen Digest.
Of all those new releases, about one quarter of the 86 Wii games will be exclusive to Nintendo’s console, while only 8 new Xbox 360 games and 5 new PlayStation 3 games are exclusive to their respective platforms. With all of the Wii’s unique features and the low development costs for the system, you can expect these trends to continue for some time. All of this third party publisher support and increasing game library can only be good things.
