Super Paper Mario: The Movie?

071008mariobros.jpgWhile those new to Paper Mario wrote off Super Paper Mario due to the amount of required reading in the game (apparently kids don’t do that anymore…), those who knew it as something that comes with the series recognized Super Paper Mario for what it is – a great platforming game, and one of the growing list of solid titles on the Wii.

The game has captured an audience, selling over a reported 1.55 million copies. King of Kong documentary director Seth Gordon thinks it’s now worthy of a movie.

“I’d love, really love, to adapt Super Paper Mario into a movie, a movie that would constantly switch from 2D to 3D. In five years, 3D cinema is going to be really big. [King of Kong] was screened for Nintendo, but I haven’t had the chance to speak to anyone over there about it. But I definitely want to have that conversation.”

While you should never write off a potential movie without having heard a summary, seen a cast list, or maybe seen the movie, let’s just all hope that Nintendo’s first attempt at a Mario Bros. movie raised their standards, and that they wouldn’t give their blessing to a Mario movie unless it were top notch.
