Nintendo DS dominates Q3 Australian hardware sales

071005playingds.jpgThird quarter figures are in for Australia, courtesy of GfK data. As expected, the DS Lite ruled the roost for sales July through September, outselling the best-selling home console (PS2) and best-selling next-gen console (Wii) combined. The Wii maintained a healthy lead for the three month period versus its two nearest competitors by taking nearly half of all next-gen home console sales. With the recent news of a major Australian retailer getting in on selling Nintendo products, expect a noticeable boost for Nintendo sales during the upcoming holiday period.

System – Q3 sales (Lifetime sales)
DS Lite – 139,483 (730,076)
PlayStation 2 – 66,228 (2,118,646)

Xbox 360 – 40,467 (222,136)
