Although the use of flat, two-dimensional characters is no new thing in a Smash Brothers game, (Mr. Game and Watch anyone?), this morning we learn that the 8-bit era Excitebike sprites will make an appearance in Brawl as Assist Trophies. It also appears that several other classic NES sprites will serve as trophies in the game, as the Spiny-tossing Lakitu from the original Mario Bros. has also been confirmed for Brawl.
