The number of parallels between the first three Super Mario Bros. games and all three 3D Super Mario games are quickly growing. You’ve got SMB and SM64, changing the way we play platformers, and bringing Mario to vast worlds unlike any previously seen. “2” and Sunshine were both good games, but there were key differences between them and the original that made them black sheep games of the series, and not nearly as popular among the fans.
Enter Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Galaxy. Besides the fact that both games zoom out and take Mario on vast adventures among several worlds (now literally), Galaxy is bringing back items such as various suits for Mario to wear. This new video shows the return of Bowser’s fleet of airships. They’ve even got a remixed version of the same music playing in the background! Now, I can’t read Japanese, but if the letter to the right is of Peach writing to Mario after he completes each world… maybe she’ll give him a Power Wing.
Luckily, the game’s a mere six weeks away now. Hang on, everyone, it’ll be worth the wait. Check past the break for the new video of the game’s prologue.
