Walgreens: Your local drugstore/cartoon depot

linkdvd.jpgNothing says “awesome Tuesday afternoon” quite like hopping back and forth between a bunch of Walgreens in search of a compass (Leonardo da Vinci type compass, not Christopher Columbus). Who would have guessed that a store would be completely sold out of compasses?

As I was leaving the store slightly discouraged, I took a quick glance at the discount DVD display. Perhaps I would come across a classic like Weekend at Bernie’s, or at the very least, some Bonanza episodes on DVD. Unfortunately, I didn’t see either of those cornerstones of American pop culture since, well, my attention was instantly directed towards everybody’s favorite Saturday morning cartoon.

That’s right folks, The Legend of Zelda cartoon is sitting inside your local Walgreen’s bargain DVD bin. For just $5.99, you can score your own copy of the first three episodes of the long running cartoon (15 episodes!).

The Ringer- Ganon uses his powerful magic to distrupt an Amateur Magician’s Contest in the Castle of Hyrule!

Cold Spells- Link pretends to have a cold to get out of spring-cleaning, but ends up fighting brooms, mops, and dirty laundry when Sprite’s magical powers get out of control.

The White Knight- Link must win Zelda’s attention when the handsome PRince Facade shows up in Hyrule

Link fighting brooms, mops, and dirty laundry?! Talk about the easiest $6 that I have ever spent. I don’t know about the Walgreens situation in other cities, but here in Chicago, there is pretty much one on every other block. That’s quite a bit of Zelda love.

You killed the novelty of this post.
  • Per episode, it's about the same price you paid. Plus you get bonus features! :)

Why anybody would pay over $6 for that crap would be beyond me...
  • Actually, you probably could've gone to Target and picked up the complete series (of 13 episodes) for like $25 or $30, with extra bonus features like Super Mario Super Show skits, Zelda character sketches, and even a Zelda-themed Match Game. :P
