Wii Sports takes top award in CESA’s Japan Game Awards

070922japangameawards.jpgThe Computer Entertainment Software Association (CESA) has announced the winners of the Japan Game Awards. Wii Sports for the Wii shared the top award with Monster Hunter Portable 2nd. Wii Sports was recognized for its ability to draw in new demographics. Several other Nintendo titles made the list, including entries to the Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon series.

“The Wii Sports games played using the Wii Remote controller do not require any difficult operations whatsoever, and can be enjoyed with friends or family in the comfort of your living room. Wii Sports has totally revamped the image of traditional game consoles, and has won over new demographic sectors, particularly women and seniors. In addition, the support garnered from a wide range of users in the general vote was a major factor in the title’s selection for the Grand Award,” explains the CESA website.
