In speaking with Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Kotaku brought up some interesting topics with the established game designer. Mizuguchi, probably best known for creating Rez, has gone from Sega to founding Q Entertainment in recent years. There, he produced Meteos for the Nintendo DS. Now, however, it’s a mystery to anyone what other projects he has up his sleeve. He expressed interest in Rez 2, but wouldn’t confirm or deny a Space Channel 5 sequel on the Wii. When asked about Space Channel 5‘s potential with the Wii remote, Mizuguchi had this to say:
“Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh… (grabs heart) Give me water… The Wii is special. It’s not such a high def direction, but it’s a fun direction as a future toy. That kind of idea always stimulates us in our ideas. This [the Wii] is another direction.”
Mizuguchi was reported to have been surprised when asked the question. One has to wonder if the surprise was a “I didn’t think of that!!”-type of surprise, or something more like “Oh! How did you know we were working on that?”
