Nintendo makes US$74 profit on every European Wii
An analyst has predicted how much profit is being made on each Wii console by Nintendo.
In Europe, Nintendo makes $74 on each console (All figures are in US dollars). In North America they make $49. In Japan however, Nintendo only makes $13 on each console. What’s up with that? It seems Nintendo has only enough love for one country.
Nintendo isn’t the only company rolling in dough these day’s however. Japanese firm Mitsumi Electric, which provides a bunch of the parts found in the Wii as well as some for the DS, saw it’s profits go up 500% from last year.

Japan doesn’t have a Wii Sports pack-in. If you figure that a disc costs about $1 to press, but adds $50 worth of value, then the discrepancy isn’t so high.
Exactly. Actually, WiiSports is sold in Japan at the equivalent of a $40 game here in the US. So considering how relatively little it cost to develop WiiSports, it figures out perfectly.
That’s very true, but it’s still not fair. ;)
