Nintendo of America’s George Harrison has confirmed that he will be leaving the company after this year. This comes after the subsidiary decided to move Sales and Marketing closer to San Francisco. Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed earlier in the year that the majority of the existing division chose to leave the company and stay in Redmond, Washington. No names were specified, but George Harrison was among those rumored to be leaving. Further rumors stated that Harrison announced his retirement to those within the company. The rumors are true, as Harrison confirmed the information to Reuters in a telephone call.
“I have confirmed to all employees that I will be leaving at the end of December and not making the move to California.“
Harrison leaves after spending 15 years with the company, and has not announced his plans for after the departure. Those also rumored to be leaving include Perrin Kaplan and Beth Llewelyn. Llewelyn stated after the rumors ran wild that they were still “working things out.”
We’ll miss you, George. Best of luck next year.
