Oblivion engine is now Wii-ready

The Gamebryo engine just got a massive update today. It now has boosted features that eliminate many time-consuming tasks involved with developing for multiple systems. In this case, the Wii.

The Gamebryo engine, developed by Emergent Game Technologies, is behind many popular titles, including The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and the upcoming Fallout 3. Not to mention over 200 other games ranging from hardcore MMO’s (Massively Multiplayer Online) games, to casual games. This is great news for Wii owners, because it means a definite increase in multi-platform titles coming to the Wii.

Looks like my favourite video-game series just took a small, but very significant step towards my favourite console.

It means that any company using the Gamebryo engine when developing a game on another system will be more likely to release the game on the Wii console, because of the updated features of the software.
