Rumor: New Zelda mini-game bundled with Wii Zapper

According to a Gamestop manager who is at an employee convention of sorts in Las Vegas, the game that is being bundled with the Wii Zapper is apparently a new Zelda title, Zelda Crossbow Training.

“The game looked beautiful,” my source said. “I’m pretty sure it was running on the Twilight Princess engine. It’s a third-person game, and you had some control over Link. While the video was way too short to get a good idea of the gameplay, it looks like a light-gun inspired Zelda title.”

This could very well be true. A good way to get people on board a new peripheral like the Wii Zapper would be to introduce it while at the same time letting them explore a familiar environment. This all begs the question of just how big/in-depth the game will be. (And if it exists at all.)

hmm i don’t know it sounds like a tech demo to me, but if it is indeed the real deal sounds cool.

I don’t think they would spend a lot of time on a tech demo. The way it sounds, third person shooter ala Gears of War?

That seems like a lot of work just to show off to some Gamestop employee’s.

As far as I can tell, there is no official confirmation that this Zelda game would be the ONLY software included with the Zapper. It is entirely possible that multiple games will be compiled on the disc that comes with this peripheral. Given that the Wii is very well known for simple, Mii-esque games to the “non-hardcore” crowd, I expect there to be a small variety of mini-games, and not just this hardcore Zelda one that has been confirmed, especially if Nintendo wants to sell the Zapper to casual gamer.

Well this convention is one that developers get to tell the 3900+ GameStop/EB Games Managers whats up to get cusotmers pumped. My manager actually called me yesterday as I opened to tell me about this so yeah its for real.
