Sin and Punishment rated somewhere other than Japan

070908sinpunishment.jpgBack in the day, Treasure released Sin and Punishment for the Nintendo 64 in Japan. The shooter was critically acclaimed by those who got to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the game was never localized for release here in North America, or anywhere beyond the game’s home country.

When news came in a few weeks ago that Sin and Punishment would come to the Japanese Virtual Console, it raised excitement in some Nintendo fans while causing pain to those who justifiably expected the move to merely taunt them. The game wasn’t released outside of Japan, so why would it be released on the VC outside of Japan?

Pout no longer, fans. The OFLC (the Australian equivalent of the ESRB) has rated the game for release on the Australian Virtual Console, essentially confirming the game’s VC release across all major English regions. Now, if only we could get other Japanese-only games of the past to be released internationally on the VC. I’m thinking localization teams should start working on six Fire Emblem and two Mother games to keep fans happy.
