Smash Bros. site updates with Mario’s Special Moves
Mario’s Down Special Move is no longer the Mario Tornado. Instead, he whips out F.L.U.D.D. for some high powered water action. While the water itself does no damage, it will send opponents flying - and who knows, maybe they’ll hit something to shoot them off-screen. Holding the B button will charge the pump, and it can even be used while shielding. The screens below demonstrate all this new fun… on an unknown stage.
Mario still has his Tornado move, don’t worry! It’s just been mapped to an unknown button…or motion…
I think it’s safe to say the other plumber will be sporting a different invention of Professor E. Gadd’s.

i find this very strange, surely they would want to make him more like the Mario in Mario Galaxy, rather then in Mario Sunshine???
Whats wrong with FLUDD, sounds cool. Super Smash Bros. seems to have a knack for bringing items, features, and techniques for characters that span from more games and time periods than just the present. I’m willing to bet that there will definately be moves or items from Galaxy as well.
i just think its odd, that they wouldn’t want to try build up hype about Mario Galaxy instead of going back and reminding us of Mario’s worst outing.
You never know, they might roll out a Bumble Bee style tether recovery. (Not sure how it would work though..)
Galaxy isn’t bringing anything really new to the table in gameplay. Its more the environment, so look for a Galaxy themed stage. As well as Items from the game.
Mario Sunshine was no Mario 64, but it was definately not his “worst outing”.
well i should have put IMO but it realy was poor by Mario Games standards. It would have been cool if marios special was eating a mega mushroom and going mega sized like in NSMB and MSC and just blasting everyone out of the way.
Point taken, but before we jump to conclusions, more moves can be shown later in the game. It wouldn’t be logical to assume Mario is only going to use FLUDD. Another reason could be that even though us “hardcore” gamers know every detail about Galaxy, most of the public doesn’t, so it would make sense to give him FLUDD and say, “Hey that’s FLUDD from Mario Sunshine”, instead of, “Why is Mario in a Bee outfit”. Or then again, maybe one of the producers of the game really likes FLUDD (I thought he was cool =P ). Oh yeah, and doesn’t Luigi have his ghost vaccum in this game? Maybe they wanted the Super Mario Bros. to both use tools that that scientist dude gave them.
