Possible box art for Super Smash Bros. Brawl

070904smashbox.jpgThe biggest giveaway that box art you find on a non-official site (in this case, a site other than one controlled by Nintendo) is real is if the design contains character art that clearly isn’t amateur and yet has never been seen before in any previous promotional art for the game. It’s what gave away what would go on to become the box arts for Fire Emblem: Akatsuki no Megami and NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams.

We have some art from eStarland that is clearly unlike any of the fan-created box art designs that have popped up in recent months and contains brand new character art for every brawler on the cover. Not only that, the fact that Mario, Link, and Pikachu once again take center stage on this cover suggest that this could be the real deal (or at least the real deal as of right now).

It’s not a bad design, so as long as it’s real (bet on it), expect only the ESRB rating and the presence/absence of the WFC logo to change.

The only thing about it is the fact that the only people pictured are those that were confirmed, and at this stage in time I would think that maybe more characters would be on the front? ok/

Melee only had four characters on the cover not counting the little icons added in last minute. This cover is cluttered already, but not to the point where it looks bad. Those that were confirmed unlockables (e.g., Snake) aren’t on the cover as they shouldn’t be, and the rest aren’t really necessary to tell the casual browser that this game will be a fun time. 11 is plenty.
