Realizing that Nintendo’s online efforts with the Wii have been lacking in quantity thus far, you might be wondering what this means for Guitar Hero III, coming soon to the Wii. RedOctane is touting the online multi-player as a huge new feature for the game, causing worry for fans concerned that Nintendo might get in the way.
Jim Squires of TheBBPS spoke with RedOctane’s Senior PR Specialist, Bryan Lam, about the current status of the Wii version of the game. The response doesn’t condemn the online fate for the Wii version, but it’s not too encouraging either.
“We’re working closely with Nintendo for an online solution, though at the moment we’re unable to confirm the status of the online multi-player.”
Apparently, the same situation applies to downloadable content for the Wii version. Don’t be surprised if Friend Codes and the lack of mass storage are behind all this. We know that Reggie realizes the importance of Guitar Hero III on the Wii – let’s hope he can encourage the big wigs at NCL to tear down the barriers and bring GH3 online.
