New Sega game for DS is a potential lie-detector test

070901meettheparents.jpgHeart Scan, a new DS game available in Japan, has players speaking into the microphone to have the software analyze the patterns in their voice. The game uses “sensibility technology” developed by Advanced Generation Interface Japan, Inc. and SGI Japan with the purpose of analyzing the voices of employees answering the phone or customers making complaint calls. Sega spokesman Yasushi Nagumo says the game can be used as a lie-detector test.

The game is designed to give players a list of words, among other things, from a related topic. Based on the vocal responses picked up by the microphone, Heart Scan can tell if a player gets nervous or jittery from words like “marriage” or “extramarital affair,” for example. Graphs and charts then accompany the results given to players. Scary, hm?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like there are any plans at the moment to release the game outside Japan. It’s hard to be sure, though…they could be lying.
