Iwata and Itoi have dinner, post conversations online
When you and a few friends go out to dinner, record everything you say in conversation, decide afterwards to post it online, and get hundreds or thousands of fans reading it within hours, you know you’ve gone far in life. Of course, that doesn’t need to be said for either of the gentlemen mentioned below.
Satoru Iwata, now president of Nintendo Co., Ltd., and Shigesato Itoi, best known for being the man behind the Mother/Earthbound games, went out for dinner about six months ago with the rest of Itoi’s development studio. His studio decided to compile the entire conversation (which had been recorded) into a series of 11 articles to be posted online, starting today. The first one is titled “The Definition of Idea” and talks about the conception of great ideas for not only games but for other topics as well. While simple ideas can be something like common sense, the real challenge is to solve several problems with a single idea.
Hit the link below to read that article, and the rest over the next couple of weeks. It’s highly unlikely that anything huge, gaming-wise, will be revealed (such as Mother on the Wii, for example), but it should be an intriguing series of articles sharing the wealth of knowledge that both Itoi and Iwata have.
