Rumour: Okami coming to the Wii

Published by Michael under Wii

Now this rumour has nearly been beaten to death, but even as the darkness threatens to blot out everything, we still see a ray of hope every once in a while.

Quartermann also contends another popular rumor still has life in it: Okami on Wii. Capcom is already working on an upgraded port of the overlooked Zelda-style adventure, complete with Wiimote support.

Although this is definitely not a confirmation that the game is being ported, if Capcom has any business sense whatsoever, they’ll find the time and resources to get it done. The way the Wii is selling, it doesn’t make sense not to do it.

Project O renamed: Ousama Monogatari (King Story)

Published by Michael under Wii

King Story, previously know as Project O, is a Simulation/RPG about a sick boy named Corobo Bread. In King Story, our protagonist comes across a magical crown that changes him into a healthy King, with the responsibilities of leading a kingdom.

Taking control of Corobo Bread, players will: lead him around, talk with villagers, solve problems, and develop the town. As you wander around your kingdom, citizens will begin to follow you. As soon as you have enough helpful workers, you can get them to clear fields, search for treasure, and build roads and houses among other things. In King Story, you are given the responsibility of leading your kingdom from a fledgling village into a massive city.

As well as fending off dragons and other pests, you have to maintain a close relationship with your townsfolk. Each villager in your town will lead a life of their own, and have stories to tell. These stories will form a part of the main storyline, progressing throughout the game.

Sounds to me like Monty Python and the Holy Grail realized in video-game form. The first video footage of King Story will be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Games Show. (TGS) Check out some scans of the original Famitsu article for our first look at some in-game shots after the break.

Smash Bros. site updates with Gliding

Published by Christian under Wii

Some characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl have wings. These characters have the ability to glide, if you’re able to do a mid-air jump and continue holding the jump button. Actually, you don’t even have to hold the jump button down - simply execute a mid-air jump and rapidly tilt forwards and backwards on the control stick to initiate a glide. Tilting forward or backwards will also tilt your character’s nose up or down, potentially increasing your speed or altitude.

You have to be careful not to stall or be attacked, though - both will end your glide. Also, you can’t change your lateral direction in a glide. Bummer.

This just in: Pure awesome contained within Banjo strap

Published by Michael under Nintendoness

No need for words here folks.

Awesomeness

Although, as cool as having the hit-in-the-face-with-a-bat version of Link would be, I think I would stick with the original.

First glimpse into the world of Children of the Night

Published by Michael under Nintendo DS

We get our first look at the recently anounced Nibris Horror game for the DS.

Looks like just another “fun-filled” happy adventure. When are we going to get some intense games for the DS? Hit the break for additional artwork.

Update:

“Nibris has now attempted to set the record straight by stating the three pieces of art are “old graphics from one of our award-winning artists, and that they are not a part of any Nibris project”. They were shown only to give an idea of the possible direction the proposed new DS project could go in.

No More Heroes screens

Published by Michael under Wii

We’re being treated to No More Heroes screens almost as regularly as the Smash Bros. site has been updating. Most of them have been interesting but how many screens can you look at before getting tired of the game before it even comes out? Regardless, these screens show off more of the landscape of Santa Destroy.

Smash Bros. site updates with Pokémon Trainer’s special moves

Published by Michael under Wii

pokemon_trainer_070829a-l.jpg

Today Mr. Sakurai enlightens us with the moves the Pokémon Trainer will have access to when battling with each of his three Pokémon. Squirtle’s moves, Up Special: Waterfall and Side Special: Withdraw. Ivysaur’s moves, Standard Special: Bullet Seed and Up Special: Vine Whip. Charizard’s moves, Standard Special: Flamethrower and Side Special: Rock Smash.

It looks like Pokémon Trainer is going to get quite the workout. None of these Pokémon can handle another challenger on their own, it’s going to take good timing and lots of strategy. A couple of points of interest: Bulbasaur’s Vine Whip acts as a Tether Recovery, and as you may have noticed there are only two moves shown per pokemon. We were promised three Sakurai! Three! I’m guessing he forgot?

Toys ‘R’ Us distributing Manaphy Pokemon on Sept. 29

Published by Christian under Nintendo DS

Just when I take Pokémon out of my DS and finally start getting some quality time with my other games as well as new games, Pokémon finds its way back in there. On September 29th, Toys ‘R’ Us stores will be distributing the legendary Pokémon “Manaphy” to all those who come in from noon to 3pm. The giveaway is in commemoration of the new movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. Manaphy itself will come with a Red Scarf as shown in the movie, and will be held in a Cherish Ball as all other event Pokémon from the DS generation are distributed.

Unfortunately, I think I have work that day. It’s about a year after TRU held a similar event to distribute Mew, which I went and picked up for my copy of Emerald. It’d be nice if someone got an extra TRU Manaphy for me on September 29th…

Rumor: Metroid Dread (DS) Coming Soon?

Published by Joey under Nintendo DS

IGN.com recently reported on an easter egg they stumbled across while playing through Metroid Prime 3. Supposedly, somewhere mid-game is a computer panel that when scanned reads,

Experiment status report update: Metroid project ‘Dread’ is nearing the final stages of completion.

This message could be hinting at a DS title that was tentatively announced by Nintendo back in 2005 named Metroid Dread. There has never been an official, public announcement for the title other than a list of future DS titles given exclusively to the media in 2005. Many people have speculated that Dread is supposed to be a brand new side-scrolling Metroid title for the DS.

Metroid Dread

Obviously, there is no way for us to know at this point if the message is accurate, but it can fuel some interesting speculation. What do you guys think? Is this info worth getting excited for, or is this all just some cruel prank pulled by the Retro writing staff?

Smash Bros. site updates with Andross (AT)

Published by Christian under Wii

The sworn enemy of two generations of McClouds makes his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as an Assist Trophy in his original form. Andross appears on screen before moving back and spitting out polygonal panels at your opponents. Not a bad Assist Trophy to have at your command, hm?
