Leipzig’s Games Convention is coming to a close, and we know what that means: awards! Over 85 nominations in both hardware and software were voted on in nine categories, and there were definitely some surprises.
SEGA was “flattered to giggles” to toot their own horn and point out that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games eclipsed Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Fitness in voting to win Best in GC for a Wii game. While we’re sorry to see Galaxy take a backseat, we already know from several playable accounts that Galaxy is on track to be the Mario game fans have been waiting to play for over a decade. Mario & Sonic is therefore going to rock and prove to be a fan-favorite this holiday season.
As for what the judges had to say, “Finally consumers will be able to see who’s faster and who can jump higher – Mario or Sonic? A great casual gaming experience for all kinds of gamers.”
