Madden Football 08 broken?

This video shows only a couple of many apparent glitches in the newest version of Madden football. Careful folks, the F-bombs are dropped everywhere in this video.

It doesn’t surprise me. EA is in it for profits, why else would they release the same game for every decent system out there? (Its not because they’re nice). In any case, trying to release the same game being worked on by several different teams does not work. Its good for the industry if it works out, but it takes a lot of communication between the different teams to make sure the game is going to be the of the same quality on every console.

The biggest problem is not the way they go about making games, its the business side of it. The upper executives don’t care if the game glitches every once in a while, as long as it looks pretty it will sell right? (right.)

Keep in mind this video is of the Xbox 360 version. (I assume that the 360 version is not the only one experiencing these glitches.)

They didn’t release it on all promised systems, though. They promised at the WWDC to release simultaneously versions of their games for Mac OS X and Windows. Madden ’08 and Tiger Woods ’08′s Mac versions were pushed back to September and October.

I think EA is becoming the Interplay of modern gaming, releasing buggy games without proper testing. This isn’t the first EA game with problems.

Wow. That was intense. hahaha. I have never been a huge Madden fan, so I was never actually aware of this kind of stuff. I don’t know if funny glitches like this would piss me off that bad, but I tell you what, I would be laughing pretty hard if my played literally ran through the crowd. THAT was funny. hahaha.

But yeah. EA has been a pretty buggy company for a LONG time now. I almost think they do it on purpose. I’m a longtime hockey fan, so I only have a choice of the NHL games or the 2K games. The past 4 NHL games I bought (94, 98, 2001, 2006), all by EA, have had strange glitches in them. Players disappearing, goals being scored from behind the net (LITERALLY), and goalies freezing up (which is a gem). Hence why I only buy a game every few years instead of every year, because I’m NOT about to give EA a buttload of money for garbage. I just wait until it gets cheap… like right before the new ones come out (NHL 06 = $14.99). hahahaha.

    Nice, another hockey fan!

I have two hockey games. One for the SNES and one for my Xbox. If they bring a Wii version I will be tempted, but considering the level of polish Madden got, I might be better off waiting for another NHL Hitz game or something.

Wii hockey would be too amazing, but not for your TV.

    Damn slap shots.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. The controls would be nice if they treated them like some of the games; hold A and swing the Wiimote for a pass, hold B and swing the Wiimore for a shot. And the sensor could pick up whether you wind back for a slap shot or a simple brush forward for a wrist shot. It would be nice, but then again, NHL games are slowly dying off. It’s sad. I don’t know if the Wii or DS would get a hockey game for a long while, if ever.

The DS would be another great platform for hockey, I think! I would love a game like NHL 94 for the DS, but obviously a bit better graphics. Man… being able to customize a team on my DS would be GREAT! Also, making use of the touchpad, you could easily used coaching strategies by genuinely drawing plays. That would be cool.

But lets not get our hopes up. *sigh*

I recently watched the Gunpei Yokoi retrospective at gametrailers, it was pretty boring but one thing caught my eye in the video, Donkey Kong Ice Hockey! It was a game and watch game that was never released..

It almost broke my heart seeing it..

    Lol funny.

Wow, this guy had no issue letting lose the f-bombs. But I can understand where he is coming from. While I don’t play sports games (excluding Mario sports, which really aren’t sports games) or as I like to refer to them “sports simulations” because they lack the basic essence of sports: movement. Anyways, yea… that’s pretty bad. Especially Favre walking off the field for no good reason. Bugs like this should have been found in testing or even by the programmers. Rushing games out isn’t a good thing… no sir, not good for anybody.

C’mon EA. Shape up or quit making video games. I don’t wanna hear of another sports gamer being pissed off at a glitchy game. Heck, I may have to play some of these games in the future (college vg friends, eh?) and I don’t wanna play one big glitch…
