Super Mario Bros. theme played on Chromatone keyboard
I wonder if anyone at U of I’s School of Music can play one of these.
The Chromatone CT-312 keyboard is an electronic keyboard that completely revamps the layout of your traditional 88-key piano. It’s based on the Jankó keyboard layout, with the purpose of placing several keys of the same note at several locations across the keyboard, making chords and scales playable without having to reach across far distances. Think of it this way, if a piano were one string on a guitar (linear), this thing would be the full six-string guitar. Or a more complex, compact organ, if you want to think of it that way.
Above, the player demonstrates a jazz arrangement of the Super Mario Bros. theme played on the CT-312. There’s a string bass playing in the background as well. The whole thing makes me feel like I’m in a Peanuts video. Thanks to Mark for the heads up!
