I think that the folks over at Nintendo must be Tanooki readers. Not even 24 hours after I compared Nintendo’s efforts at selling Metroid Prime 3 with Microsoft’s publicity mania surrounding Halo 3, Nintendo has launched a new Wii channel aimed exclusively at previewing Prime 3. As of yet I have not gotten the chance to download the channel, but from what I have heard it is made up of several demo videos for the game that is scheduled to release on August 27th.
Although this is a step in the right direction for Nintendo, I would have liked to see a demo included with the channel, but that would be difficult given Wii’s tiny hard drive. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, and we will see more online content like this from Nintendo in the future.
Coinciding with this channel’s launch, according to Go Nintendo both Metroid and Super Metroid have been scheduled for release on the Virtual Console in the United States. We should expect the original Metroid to go live on the August 13th, and Super Metroid on August 20th.
