Bob Hoskins says Super Mario Bros. was a nightmare

In an interview with Guardian Unlimited, Super Mario Bros. movie star Bob Hoskins talked about some of his memories as an actor – everything from good to bad. His memories as “Mario Mario” in the 1993 film adaptation of the popular video game weren’t all that spectacular, as expected from many movie adaptations of properties during the early 90′s.

“The worst thing I ever did? Super Mario Brothers. It was a f***in’ nightmare. The whole experience was a nightmare. It had a husband-and-wife team directing, whose arrogance had been mistaken for talent. After so many weeks their own agent told them to get off the set! F***in’ nightmare. F***in’ idiots.”

Makes you wonder what Lou Albano thought of his role…

You know, it was pretty lame in many respects, and wasn’t very faithful to the original games, but I liked it, really. Maybe because I’m just a hard-core Mario fan, or because the movie’s nostalgic for me somehow. Heck,I might not even like it anymore, the last time I saw it was last summer. =P
