Behold, the new iMac! Apple unveiled the aluminum and glass wonder earlier today, and boy does it looks fantastic. I was getting a bit tired of waltzing into the Apple store to face an entire wall filled with those clunky white iMacs. Sorry guys, but I think the white revolution is starting to fade a bit, although I wouldn’t want my Wii in any other color besides white. After all, it is absolutely necessary for my Wii to match my DS lite.
If I wasn’t holding out for an updated Mac Pro, I would heavily consider picking up one of these babies, even if I have a few gripes with it. The inability to upgrade anything other than the RAM is a deal breaker for people needing a better graphics card (me!). Also, I’m still not completely sold on the aluminum/white keyboard, although the wireless Bluetooth one sounds sexy.
The old iMac started at $999, but the new ones start at $1199, so what’s the deal? Well, Apple has ditched the 17-inch version (for now), so the cheapest iMac is now a 20-inch: 2.0GHz model. Not too shabby, but just make sure to toss in a memory upgrade if you are considering picking one up.
