The Tanooki’s Daily Recap – August 3, 2007

bonds.jpg

Let me get one thing out in the open: Barry Bonds is a disgrace to baseball. With that said, I’m addicted to watching each game on ESPN2 in hopes of seeing Hank Aaron’s record tied. It’s arguably the most important record in sports, so I certainly want to see it tied while watching live. Records or not, I am getting extremely tired of watching a Giants game every day in hopes of seeing history, but instead I have to settle for some extremely mediocre California baseball.

I shouldn’t be too rough though since tonight’s game against the Padres was pretty good. Former Diamondback, Scott Hairston, had not one, but two home runs for the Padres, with the last one being the game winning dinger in the 10th. Oh, and Bonds went 0-4. Again.

Tomorrow I will be taking a small trip down to Indianapolis for the Queens of the Stone Age show. They will most likely play the newest Guitar Hero III song, “3′s and 7′s,” so I’ll be sure to rock out enough for everybody. With Christian and myself MIA in what has been proven to be a very rare occurrence, our newest staff member, Michael, will be taking over the news for the day. It’s his first day, so be nice!

So, uh… apparently Barry tied the record. A little disappointed, actually. I was hoping for someone to snipe him before he actually tied it, since I am a HUGE anti-fan of Barry Bonds.

Well, the “record” will be broken any day now, if that’s what you even want to call it, and Hank Aaron is going to get crapped on because he knows that Barry is technically stealing his record.

As a person trainer and fitness professional myself (Credentials: Worked at Gold’s Gym for 10 years combined – Myrtle Beach and Columbia, SC – , and YMCA for a year), Barry’s chances of being able to hit more home runs as he’s aged is equivalent to any athlete being much stronger and faster 20 years after their prime. Barry is not a bad athlete, by any means, but to put on an additional 70+ pounds in his mid-to-late 30′s is, to be frank, impossible without the help of hormone enhancement.

If he had any decency whatsoever, Barry would ask for his record to be dropped from the books and continue to let a true-American-hero hold the record. But we all know that Barry Bonds doesn’t have a heart, so that will never happen.

Holy crap, you had the sniping thought also?

Cheer up though, A-Rod is in a good position to break Bond’s “record”
